Union Government had talks with Gram Sangh Seva Sacred Economy Satyagrahis

A delegation of Gram Seva Sangh representatives met  with the Union  Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Pratap Chandra Sarangi to discuss over Gram Seva Sangh’s demands and proposal to rejuvenate the Sacred Economy. 

Gram Seva Sangh mentioned that a separate Ministry for the Sacred Economy sector should be created that would be dedicated in developing all the Sectors that come under  the classification of the Sacred Economy – farm sector , handloom sector that comes under textile ministry, Khadi and village industries sector , handicraft sector, MSME etc . Currently there are 12 ministries in the current system that can be termed Sacred and they need to come under one Ministry.

The Sacred Economy Ministry would also look into the welfare of labour groups – garments workers,  pourakarmikas and anganwadi workers etc. The ministry should be given appropriate funding, restructuring of the Sacred Economy must be done and Zero tax should be imposed on all sectors of Sacred Economy.

The Minister told Gram Sangh Seva group that he would discuss the demands thus stated with the Government Authorities and revert back within a month. Overall the meeting went well with Gram Sangh Sava being well received and heard.

Note: Only correction in below The Hindu report is, we are not demanding only for Handmade sector, we are demanding for Handmade plus the small sectors (less than forty percent automation) belonging to the automatic machine sector. That is what we defined as Sacred Sectors.

The Social Tragedy of Alcohol – A Seminar

Alcohol has been a leading factor for disintegration and pauperization of lakhs of poor families- both rural and urban- in the country. This social tragedy is perpetrated by several governments which have conveniently argued the ‘inevitability’ of tolerating drinking alcohol among people, and has effected an extremely successful liquor business basing itself on corruption and non-enforcement of existing rules and regulations related to liquor business. The real misfortune is that with the legalization of liquor business its ill effects –social, economic and psychological – have multiplied manifold.

Over the past few years, in order to augment its financial resources from this sector, the state government has gone on a spree of issuing excessive liquor marketing licenses and permits across the state, thereby flooding alcohol all over! The corrupt nexus between liquor dealers, the officials and the politicians is well known and all efforts are afoot to raise the minimum marketing limits at all costs.

The fact that liquor has decimated poor families through shattered relationships, leading to utter penury and serious impact on children and family health needs no overemphasis.

Pushed to the wall, thousands of rural poor women marched from Chitradurga to Bangalore in order to open the eyes of the slumbering government on their tragic plight due to alcohol. This huge march of women along with their travails they faced en-route, has touched the conscience of all those with social concerns. It is another tragedy that instead of addressing the evil of alcohol, the state government has fixed the excise target to Rs.21000 crores, an increase of 16 % against the previous year!

It is now the time to intensify the social movement against alcohol. Towards this, Gram Seva Sangh, in collaboration with Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi and Madya Nishedha Andolana has organized a women-centered seminar entitled, ‘The Social Tragedy of Alcohol’,  on 23rd February 2019 from 10-30 am to 2 pm at Kasturba Hall, Gandhi Bhavana, Bangalore. Renowned women social thinkers, activists and women engaged in anti-liquor movement will be participating in this important event.

It is extremely essential that all women living in towns and cities need to join hands with rural women to fight against this social scourge of liquor.

ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಬಡ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ವಿನಾಶದ ಅಂಚಿಗೆ ತಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಮದ್ಯವ್ಯಸನವು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ದುರಂತಗಳ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗ್ರಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. “ಕುಡಿತವು ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯವಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾವೇ ಅದರ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸುವೆವು” ಎಂಬ ಅನುಕೂಲದ ವಾದವನ್ನು ಚುನಾಯಿತ ಸರಕಾರಗಳೇ ಅನುಸರಿಸಿರುವಾಗ ಕರವಸೂಲಿ, ಲಂಚಗಳ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೆಂಡದ ದಂಧೆಯು ನಿಂತಿರುವುದು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವೇನಲ್ಲ. ಕಾನೂನಿನ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟಿನೊಳಗೇ ಮದ್ಯದ ಉದ್ದಿಮೆ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆಯೇ ಈಚಿನ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅದರ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ದುಷ್ಪರಿಣಾಮಗಳು ಕೂಡ ಮಿತಿಮೀರಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಲೇ ಇವೆ.

ಕಳೆದೆರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಹೆಂಡದ ವರಮಾನವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರಕಾರವು ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಹೊಸ ಅಂಗಡಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮದ್ಯ ಮಾರಾಟದ ಪರವಾನಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಜೊತೆಗೇ ಪ್ರತಿ ಅಂಗಡಿಯ ಮದ್ಯಮಾರಾಟದ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ಮಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಗ್ಗಿಸಿ ಹೆಂಡದ ಹೊಳೆಯನ್ನೇ  ಹರಿಸಿದೆ. ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಿತಿಯನ್ನು ತಲುಪಲು ಮದ್ಯ ಮಾರುವರು ವಾಮಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಲೂ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ಸ್ವೇಚ್ಛೆಯಿಂದ ಹೆಂಡದ ಮಾರಾಟವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಬಡವರಲ್ಲಿ  ಮದ್ಯವ್ಯಸನವು ಮೋಜಿನ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿರದೇ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿನ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಒಡೆದು, ತುತ್ತು ಊಟಕ್ಕೂ ಕಂಟಕವಾಗಿ, ರೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿ, ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಭವಿಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲವಾಗಿಸುವ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಯಾಗಿ ದುಷ್ಪರಿಣಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವ ಸತ್ಯವೇ.

ಕಳೆದ ಜನವರಿ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರದುರ್ಗದಿಂದ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನವರೆಗೆ ಬೃಹತ್ ಪಾದಯಾತ್ರೆಯೊಂದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಈ ಪಿಡುಗಿನಿಂದಾಗುವ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ದುಷ್ಪರಿಣಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ಹರಿತಗೊಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವೆಂದರೆ ಇಂತಹ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಹವಾಲುಗಳ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ಮೊನ್ನೆ ಮಂಡಿಸಿದ ಆಯ-ವ್ಯಯ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ವರ್ಷದ ಅಬಕಾರಿ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಣೆಯ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು 21,000 ಕೋಟಿ ರೂಪಾಯಿಗಳಿಗೆ (ಅಂದರೆ ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷದ ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 16% ಹೆಚ್ಚಳ) ಏರಿಸಿದೆ.

ಈ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮದ್ಯನಿಷೇಧ ಹೋರಾಟವು ಇನ್ನೂ  ಪ್ರಕಾರವಾಗಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಸೇವಾ ಸಂಘವು ಮದ್ಯ ನಿಷೇಧ ಆಂದೋಲನ ಹಾಗೂ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಸ್ಮಾರಕ ನಿಧಿ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ “ಮದ್ಯವ್ಯಸನ: ಒಂದು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪಿಡುಗು” ಎಂಬ ಮಹಿಳಾಪ್ರಧಾನ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣವನ್ನು  ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 23 ಶನಿವಾರದಂದು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 10: 30 – ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ 2:0 ರವರೆಗೆ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಕಸ್ತೂರ್ಬಾ   ಸಭಾಂಗಣ, ಗಾಂಧಿ ಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದೆ. ಈ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಡಿನ ಹೆಸರಾಂತ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು, ಮದ್ಯ ನಿಷೇಧ ಆಂದೋಲನದ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರ್ತಿಯರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞಾವಂತ ಜನರು ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈ ಮಹತ್ವಪೂರ್ಣ ಹೋರಾಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಕಾರ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ, ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಒಂದುಗೂಡಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ.

ಬನ್ನಿ! ಮದ್ಯದ ಅನಿಷ್ಟವನ್ನು ತೊಲಗಿಸಲು ಈ ಹೋರಾಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿ!
